Why Pride Marches Matter
Pride marches are powerful acts of visibility, unity, and remembrance. They honour historic milestones like the Stonewall Riots while celebrating the strength and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community today. At their core, Pride marches are both joyful expressions and purposeful protests – creating safe spaces, building community, and shining a light on the ongoing fight for equality and human rights.
These events also play a vital role in raising awareness, challenging prejudice, and inspiring change across society.
#SOProud March Route
Join us as we kick off the Pride March at 11am from Queens Park, making our way through the heart of the city and ending at Guildhall Square.
- Start at Queens Park → onto Briton Street → turn right onto the High Street
- Pause for photos at the Bargate, then continue up Above Bar Street
- Proceed past Civic Centre Road and head toward Commercial Road
Important Note:
Due to our Main Stage relocation, there will be no entrance via Above Bar Street. All attendees must enter Guildhall Square at the new Second Entrance on Commercial Road, where security checks will take place.

Public Marchers
We welcome public volunteers to join us in making the march a powerful display of visibility and solidarity.
Flag Bearers
Help us carry one of our three giant flags during the parade. These eye-catching flags are a focal point for photographs and will be widely shared on social media.
Placard Holders
Play a key role in a solemn part of the march, highlighting over 70 countries where LGBTQIA+ individuals face criminalisation, with placards showing each nation's laws and penalties.
No registration needed — simply arrive at Queen’s Park around 10:00 am. A volunteer will guide you to the public marching section. Bring your signs, flags, and chants.
Corporate / Business Marchers
Marching as a business or organisation is a brilliant opportunity to showcase your values and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
